John A. Keel (1930–2009) was an influential Fortean author and journalist best known for investigating the 1966-67 West Virginia Mothman sightings and coining the term “Men in Black”. He proposed that UFOs and paranormal events are not extraterrestrial, but rather “ultraterrestrial” manifestations from other dimensions, a theory detailed in The Mothman Prophecies and Operation Trojan Horse.
